Welcome to the first of our articles introducing you to the new and improved myRICS community, bringing a better user experience to our members.
First up, we have the News Feed, the engine room of myRICS community 2.0!
The News Feed consolidates all your content into a single, easy-to-navigate space. It takes the place of the recent activity panel on the homepage and features continuous scrolling for effortless browsing.
By default the News Feed is set to feature all the content that’s available to you, which means all the following from the groups you’ve joined.
- Announcements
- Blogs
- Discussions
- Events
- Library Entries
- Questions
This could understandably be a little overwhelming, so you can customise the view so it only shows what’s most important to you. If you click on the small triangle menu at the top right of the News Feed you’ll get some filtering options and you can choose the groups that it draws content from.

…and you can also choose the types of content you’d like to see featured, you can select multiple options here.

You might, for example, just want to limit it to show you Discussion Posts and Questions but feel free to experiment and find what works best for you!
The News Feed will display content in order of most recent activity, so older posts with recent replies may appear before newer posts that haven’t been replied yet, The most recent reply will also be displayed under the original post to make it easier to see where the conversation is up to. If you want to see the full conversation you can click on the title to view the entire thread.

The News Feed scrolls continuously making it easier to keep up to date with the latest discussions and events in your groups, and don’t worry about scrolling too far. If at any time you want to return to the top of the feed just click on the Most Recent button that will appear periodically at the top of the screen.

If you have any questions please do let us know in the comments section below, our next article will focus on making the most of your profile!
